Sealed We use Olympic Maximum Cedar Natural Tone. It was rated top choice by Consumer Reports. It looks great for the first year, but then needs to be cleaned and re-applied. Many people choose to have the sealer applied and plan to let it weather gray instead of doing the annual re-application. After two years the sealer can be painted over.
