The
boot of a pergola adds visual weight to the bottom of
a 4x4 leg. It decorates the leg up and conceals the black
plastic foot plate seen below.
Boots are an option that
can be added to post and beam pergolas. They are an assembly
if trim boards that fit snug around the post giving it
more weight on the bottom and a more solid, anchored appearance.
On all pergolas taller
than 8 feet, we add a block of 4x4 to the bottom of the
leg. The boot gracefully
conceals this joint.
